This release includes enhancements to several components of the Vocera Platform.

• Enhanced Voice Commands

  The following commands are enhanced:
  • Send recurring reminder.
  • Add to multiple groups.

• User Addition Improvement

  Customers with 30,000+ users added to a single facility have new optimizations.

• Enhanced Play Messages Command to Provide Additional Context

  The Play Messages command has been enhanced to provide the user with additional context about unread voice and text messages and walk the user through playing each type of message.

• Minibadge Enhancements

  Minibadge improvements include the following:
  • Users can press DND to put the current call on hold and hear the incoming caller’s name. This allows the user to decide to accept the call or return to the original call when a second incoming call is notified using the call-waiting beep.
  • Users who call a group will hear the name of the user that answers the call before the audio is connected.
  • Users can now press DND during an Emergency Broadcast to hear the initiating user’s location.

• Telephony Enhancements

  PBX telephony call flows now use the SIP REFER method to release the telephony gateway ports. This optimization avoids using excess telephony ports in the event of a forwarding loop.

• Performance Improvements

  Web Console can now support 1000 concurrent users with correct resource requirements.

• High Availability Improvements

  • Auto recovering database failover removes manual interaction.
  • Additional failover triggers have been added for memory leaks, message bus issues, and database or disk outage.

• Startup Improvements

  End user devices connect more quickly on startup or failover due to updates to startup mechanism.

• Increased Observability

  Audit log events are now available in Operational Tools, assisting in troubleshooting and allowing for proactive monitoring.

• PFM-17702 A slow file descriptor leak in log file rolling that could eventually lead to an outage was corrected.

• CRVC-24096 Vina call initiation from Vina Web was failing on iOS devices when app is in the background.

• PFM-17621 Audit log text feature could be disabled due to missing postgres function. This has now been corrected.

  Audit text searches were not functional on a new installation.

• VCXP-16591 Certain situations caused the Vocera Voice Server to hold on to a port used to process speech recognition. This could lead to an outage of speech services requiring a Vocera Voice Server failover to resolve. The Vocera Voice Server now detects this condition and releases the port.

• WEB-12450 In the Administrative Console, users can now searched by any full/preferred first/last name combination

• WEB-12632 Changes made in the Administrative Console are now logged with the user making the change for consumption by Vocera Analytics.

• XMPP-1279 The XMPP adapter can now suppress the Apple Push Notification service (APNs) when an iOS device is off-network. In the adapter configuration, select the new Suppress Off-Network Notifications checkbox to suppress all APNs messages to off-network devices. This feature is recommended for sites without an XMPP proxy, because it simulates the behavior of notifications being suppressed when devices are not connected to the site's network.

• XMPP-1284 Mass alerts are now sent to all B3000N badge recipients even if the first badge recipient in the list is off network. The XMPP gateway no longer waits for the first badge recipient to be on network before sending the mass alert.

• CRVC-22662 Voice server requested VSTG to play ringback on early call state even when a prompt needed to be played.

• CRVC-22813 The phone line becomes unresponsive after Multiple Active Calls (incoming/outgoing) that exceeded the max line configured.

• CRVC-22918 Telephony now sends a SIP 503 Service Unavailable response for an incoming call while all lines are in use.

• CRVC-22953 When a user received an urgent alert while playing the rejoining_call_on_hold prompt both users in the call entered a bad state. This caused a Voice server crash when another call was received, accepted, and disconnected.

• CRVC-23192 Calls to desk phone extensions routed to user instead of routing out to the Private Branch Exchange (PBX).

• CRVC-23493 Vina login events were not sending messages to VSDS logs.

• CRVC-23886 The Presence service could fail to mark off network users unavailable for voice calls causing off network users to be included in group calls.

• PFM-11915 The error message "Something went wrong when trying to save the user" occured when editing the username back to original displayed name.

• PFM-15277 Postgres was stuck in an activating state as glassfish was unable to start.

• PFM-15632 Secondary node cluster status was showing inconsistent state after Artemis reconnection failure.

• PFM-16102 Standby server consumed messages after failover.

• PFM-16146 Occasionally when upgrading or installing updated adapter packages the system would use older versions of the package. This has been corrected.

• PFM-16173 Audit searches could have poor performance.

• PFM-16942 Artemis instances started in backup mode, but unsuccessfully attached to the active server which caused an Artemis replication failure.

• PFM-17110 Bundles occasionally failed to deploy with "Inconsistent Module State" in Glassfish 5 after a failover or restart.

• PFM-17207 Parent Group did not display after a user removed a group within a group from a different facility.

• PFM-17302 Non-root certificates were not getting added to cacerts folder after uploading.

• PFM-17319 Disabled standby server could consume messages from the active server.

• PFM-17343 Backups were not purging from the Vocera Platform 6.5/6.6 gold images.

• PFM-17497 New link from Responses to Deliveries was causing update rules on Responses to trigger indefinitely.

• PFM-17368 Data purge issue was caused by foreign keys not cascade deleting in gold image.

• PFM-17372 A FileDescriptor leak in the log directory was caused by rolling log file.

• SIV-8124 Urgent alerts were getting enunciated through the badge speaker instead of the headset speaker for "None" type responses when "Announce Through Speaker" was turned off.

• WEB-12659 Users with Add Users to Group permission can now add users and groups from another facility to that group.

• WEB-12687 User could not search users and nested groups when navigating to home department group.

• WEB-12782 Vina Web was inconsistently showing alert popup.

• XMPP-1000 Bookmarks were not archived for a caller when the call recipient was logged into a B3000N device.

• XMPP-1020 XMPP no longer fails to start if there are devices registered to inactive or removed users.

• XMPP-1026 XMPP now sends a Missed/Declined Call Log notification for missed or declined group calls to iOS Vina users. Previously, a notification was sent to iOS users when the Call Log conversation was created resulting in a New Message banner or a “chirp” if the user was in a call.

• XMPP-1036 XMPP no longer fails to load patient linked conversations where the creator has been deleted. This previously prevented other users in these conversations from logging in.

• XMPP-1091 Staff assignment rosters were showing user presence as unavailable (grayed out).

• XMPP-1172 LastMissedNotification was being copied to heartbeat notification on iOS devices.

• XMPP-1181 XMPP now removes invalid device registrations in the database when a user logs into a device.

• XMPP-1236 XMPP added a Disabled Nested Results in Group Directory Search policy that revokes the display of nested users and groups.

• XMPP-1240 XMPP now correctly logs in users on Android devices after a failover. Previously, the adapter might fail to reconnect users on Android devices after a failover, because the device ID was missing during the reconnect process.

• XMPP-1248 XMPP now correctly tracks iOS device registration after a restart. Previously, XMPP might fail to clear the registration making the system think the user is logged in on multiple devices and automatically logging them out of one.

• XMPP-1257 XMPP now correctly sends re-alert notifications to iOS users when re-alert is enabled on the rule. Previously the re-alert functionality was not working for iOS users if the initial notification was received when the Vina app was in the background.

This section provides information about known product defects and limitations in the Vocera Platform 6.6.0.xx

• CRVC-22579 Attempting to merge an active call with the call on hold can cause the merge action to fail intermittently. This happens when the first call receiver gets another incoming call while on the Smartbadge and Vina apps.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.0, 6.4.0

  Workaround: Try to merge the call again.

• CRVC-22588 V5000 users are not removed from the Device Status Monitor page when users are logged out using auto-logout enabled.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.4.0

  Workaround: None.

• CRVC-22600 Unsuccessful outbound calls can occur when using commands such as Dial an outside number or Dial an extension when a site specifies a non-default port number for SIP signaling as this causes the VSTG to fail to send the port as part of the SIP INVITE message.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.3.3

  Workaround: Use IPTables to redirect a port.

• CRVC-22629 The genie persona (male or female) used for playing text messages through Text-to-Speech does not match the user-configured persona used for other genie interactions. This can result in an inconsistent user experience.

  Workaround: None.

• CRVC-22921 The Smartbadge V5000 device screen and Voice server logs show a one hour time difference during timezone or daylight savings time changes.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.5.0, Vocera Voice 5.5.1 HF4

  Workaround: Either change site timezone, save, then restore original timezone, or restart server.

• CRVC-23093 The standby node restarts when a new username that has a space character in either the beginning or end of the name is added or synched. This occurs during Active Directory or CSV bulk imports.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.5.0

  Workaround: None.

• CRVC-23481 Login attempts by the Vina user are unsuccessful if the logout is not properly processed when SAML integration is enabled and a Vina User is logged out by remote authentication server.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.4.0

  Workaround: None. Needs to be corrected in the Vocera Platform database.

• CRVC-23572 Multiple backup files can be created when a large voice data set backup results in a timeout. No data loss occurs from the resulting audit log event.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.3.3

  Workaround: Modify backup script timeout restriction from 60 to 120. See KA9944.

• PFM-11104 Deleting a facility with user history may partially delete the facility when performed using the Web Console.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.0.0

  Workaround: Contact Vocera Technical Support to delete the facility directly in the database.

• PFM-14641 Adapters services may fail to deploy during Vocera Platform version upgrades that include multiple services.

  Workaround: Restart the upgraded node after upgrading. If services fail to activate, restart the glassfish system service.

• PFM-17850 Voice server does not stay stopped during Azure scheduled event.

• PFM-18046 A failed node may fail to auto-recover into a standby state if a disk freezes for a short period of time and then recovers.

• PFM-19152 The migrator is updated to not set the company name if it already exists.

• XMPP-32 The Smartbadge and Vina apps report missed calls as declined calls when a second call comes in while the first call is ringing.

• XMPP-39 A deadlock can be caused when updating a bed's pillow number in an alert.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.3.x

  Workaround: Pre-populate the pillow_number for every bed to the value that will be reported by alerts. This will prevent the alert creation from generating a bed subscription messages.

• XMPP-1109 An empty conversation can appear in Vina if a conversation's messages are purged but not the conversation itself.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.5.0

  Workaround: None.

• XMPP-1221 A user cannot login to Vina because of an invalid MRN. This issue is caused when a user starts a patient-linked conversation with a Group using Vina for Android version 10.2 or earlier. After the XMPP server moves the conversation out of memory, the users are unable to log in to Vina.

  Version introduced: Vocera Platform 6.0.0

  Workaround: Vocera Technical Support must manually correct the MRN in the database if you are running Vina for Android 10.2 or earlier. This issue is corrected by an upgrade to version 10.3.

• XMPP-1237 The Smartbadge does not get logged out of XMPP on a VoiceLoggedOut event if XMPP is unreachable.

• XMPP-1241 Logging into a real device does not dispose of Virtual Sessions Contexts.
