This release includes the following important changes.

• All VMP queries now use the POST method.

  When VCS for Android queries the VMP Server, the POST method is now always used. In previous versions of VCS for Android, the GET method was sometimes used.

Your Android device must be using a supported operating system to be able to run Vocera Collaboration Suite.

Vocera offers the Zebra TC52-HC, TC51-HC, and MC40-HC as enterprise-class smartphone platforms for the Vocera Collaboration Suite. Built to withstand the demands of a highly mobile healthcare environment, these rugged, pocket-sized Android smartphone solutions improve healthcare staff productivity, communication and patient safety.

This release includes the following new features and functionality.

Features marked with an asterisk * require Vocera Messaging Platform version 5.3.3.

Features marked with two asterisks ** require Vocera Messaging Platform version 5.3.3 and Vocera Voice Server version 5.3.3.

• Presence and availability now provided for all contacts.

  In the Contacts screen, you can now view the presence and availability of all contacts, not just favorites.

• ** Call forwarding now directly available from within VCS.

  You can now specify that your calls are to be forwarded to your voicemail, a group or user, or to a phone number that you specify. You can forward all calls, unanswered calls, or calls received when you are off-line.

• Unavailable users are shown more prominently when composing or viewing messages.

  When you are sending a message to an individual user, a green dot next to the user's name indicates that the user is available, and an orange dot indicates that the user is in Do Not Disturb mode. If the user is unavailable, the user's name is highlighted in red and a banner is displayed on the screen.

  In existing messages, a banner is displayed on the screen if a participant has become unavailable.

• * Administrators can now request a PIN reset for a user.

  An administrator can use the VMP Server to force a user to reset his or her PIN. This is possible only when PIN use has been activated on your system.

• ** You can now transfer a call using an onscreen button.

  When you are in a call, you can now use an onscreen button to transfer the call to a phone number, user, or group that you specify.

• ** You can now set Do Not Disturb for Calls when off-campus.

  If you are away from your facility's Wi-Fi network, you can now set Do Not Disturb for Calls to specify that you are unavailable.

• * Administrators can now specify whether urgent calls are to be auto-answered.

  A VMP configuration option enables an administrator to specify whether urgent calls are to be automatically answered. When calls are not auto-answered, they behave just like normal priority calls. Turning off auto-answering can improve privacy.

• Prompt for Vocera Genie adjusted.

  When you access the Vocera Genie, the delay time before you hear the initial greeting has been adjusted to ensure that you hear the greeting properly when you place your device next to your ear.

This release includes the following known issues and limitations for versions of the Vocera Collaboration Suite running on Android operating systems.

• VCS-17443 - Call status not updated when logging in while off campus.

  If you have previously set Do Not Disturb for Calls and you log in while off campus, your state is not accurately reflected. You see yourself as available, but other users see your status as Do Not Disturb for Calls, and calls are not routed to you.

• VCS-17627 - Battery consumption greater on Android OS 10.

  If you are using VCS on a device that is running the Android 10 operating system, you may experience greater battery consumption than on older Android versions. This issue is not specific to this version of VCS and is under investigation.

• VCS-17723 - Unable to access application if device password enforced on Android OS 9 or later.

  If you are using Version 9 or later of the Android operating system and you are enforcing the use of a device password, you may not be able to access the VCS application even if the device password is set. This problem will be fixed in version 3.6.1 of VCS.
