Welcome to the latest release of Vocera Secure Texting (VST)! The VST solution extends the power of the Vocera Communications System to physicians and care teams that are located outside the hospital. VST balances security and convenience by providing a secure, easy to use, HIPAA-compliant alternative to SMS as well as basic voice capabilities to enhance communication and collaboration. The solution integrates seamlessly with the Vocera platform, providing texting and voice capabilities across Vocera end points.

The Vocera Secure Texting solution provides the following features:

HIPAA-compliant text messaging
Fully auditable communication trail
Directory of hospital-provided contacts
Ability to call or text Vocera associates inside the hospital without revealing your phone number

What's New

What's New in VST iPhone 2.2.0

The VST 2.2.0 app introduces the following new features:

Availability
- The colored halos have been made thicker for easier differentiation between statuses.
Support for up to 10,000 total contacts in any supported client.
- The VST 2.2.0 app supports a total of 10,000 combined Vocera Voice Server, Vocera Messaging Platform, and native Vocera Secure Texting contacts.
Security Updates
- If you fail to log into the client after 10 successive attempts, VST locks your account. After the 5th failure the system also enforces a three-minute wait between each successive login attempt. When your user account is locked, you cannot access it until an administrator unlocks it.
Silent Mode
- When a user is in silent mode they will not receive any notification tones. Silent mode is when the user is in a busy or unavailable state.
Terminated Conversations
- The user will no longer be able to see the first 50 users in the mass notification.
Messaging Updates
- The ! icon will remain on the Secure Messages screen if the last message in the conversation is a high priority message.
- A user can no longer use the click and hold feature to copy and forward messages. Forwarding has been removed because the original sender has no visibility into a forwarded message and forwarded messages may also go to contacts who are not VST users.
Attachment Updates
- The attachment feature has been enhanced. When sending a photo the Attach icon changes color to let the user know that the photo has been attached to the message.
- Attachments can now be rotated for easier viewing.
Non-VST Users and Group Availability
- Non-VST users and all groups will show a teal halo around their profile icon.

VST iPhone 2.2.0 Fixes

DE13639 If user A is composing a message and recieves a message from user B at the same time, the original message will be sent to user B instead of the user intended.

This has been corrected and the message will be sent to the intended user.
DE14028 If a user is not a member of a sub-group and tries to send a message to the sub-group the To field disappears.
This has been corrected and any user can send a message to any sub-group.
DE14714 If a user has an office number and attempts to edit their mobile number, the office number is changed to their mobile number.
This has been corrected and the mobile number will update appropriately.
DE15101 High priority tone was incorrect.
When a high priority message was received the notification tone was not correct. This has been corrected.
DE15567 At times, a notification tone would play without a corresponding message.
This has been corrected and notifications are working apprpropriately.
DE15794 In some instances when messages were sent notifications arrived late or not at all.
This has been corrected and notifications are working appropriately.
VSTMC-4229 When a VST user calls an office phone number, the caller's cell phone number is displayed to the recipient.

Known Issues

This release of the VST iPhone client has the following known issues.

DE15753 High priority tone is only playing for 10 seconds when the app is in the foreground.
If the high priority tone length is set to 30 seconds, the tone is only playing for 10 seconds when the application is in the foreground. If the application is in the background, the tone will sound for the entire 30 seconds.
DE15800 For multi-facility sites that have 5 or more organizations, the organizations display differently in iOS 10 and iOS 11.
The majority of VST users are part of only 1 or 2 organizations. This should have a minimal impact and there is no workaround at this time.
DE15801 For multi-facility sites that have 5 or more organizations, organization names are not sorted alphabetically on the contact details screen.

VSTMC-4280 When the subject and participant list for a conversation are modified at the same time, 2 system messages are created instead of 1 system message.
