Vocera RTP (vRTP) has 6 bytes Vocera RTP header. Out of the 6 bytes, 2 bytes are used for the port number, and 4 bytes are used for the sequence number.
The audio is sampled at every 18 ms. Audio is sampled at every 18 ms and cannot be changed to a different value. The Vocera RTP header is customized and is not compliant with standard RTP header. Hence standard third party client cannot communicate with the Vocera RTP.
Vocera uses an RTP packet time of 20 ms when interacting with external VoIP devices.
Vocera server 4.x —Vocera uses a proprietary vRTP with a packet time of 36 ms that communicate internally. Both the badge firmware 4.x and 3.x also support RTP.
Vocera server 5.x—Vocera uses RTP both internally and externally with an RTP packet time of 20 ms. RTP packets are 214 bytes in size, including Ethernet, IP, and UDP headers.
