Voice over IP Principles |
Quality of Service (QoS) refers to the overall quality of the call that includes, clarity of the audio, reliability, and consistency.
QoS ensures a degree of quality for specific applications that allows a network to treat various types of data differently. For example, a network may prioritize the treatment of packets for real-time applications such as voice or video communications, while assigning a lower priority to packets for data and other applications that are less affected by latency. Implementing QoS will optimize voice performance when a network is congested with other types of traffic.
For more information on QoS, refer to WAN QoS.
