Antenna Patterns

The antenna is an important component of a wireless LAN system. It receives and transmit electromagnetic waves. When electromagnetic waves are received, the antenna emits radiation distributed in space in a certain way. A graphical representation of the distribution of the radiated power is called an antenna pattern. The distribution is measured in angles, amplitude, and frequency. The patterns are divided into horizontal and vertical planes and are called azimuth and elevation angular patterns respectively.

To ensure adequate signal strength where the badge is in use, follow the recommendations in Minimum Signal Strength.

The illustrations in this section show antenna patterns of the B3000n badge in free space.
Note: The signal received by the badge is affected by the body of the person wearing the badge.
