Sub-departments

A sub-department is a subgroup of a department group and whose members are also considered to be assigned to the parent department group for purposes of departmental calling.

Vocera displays two asterisks (**) next to the name of a group in the Administration Console to indicate that it is a subdepartment.

Sub-department groups, like department groups, are intended to be relatively static. That is, members should not be dynamically assigned to a subdepartment. Only groups that are directly contained within an existing department or sub-department should have their Group Type field set to sub-department. Sub-departments can be nested any number of levels deep within a department.

A sub-department group should be a member of only one parent department. If you make the same sub-department group a member of multiple departments, the Data Check utility will flag the problem and recommend that you remove the sub-department group from all but one department.
