Configuring Host Info Settings

Host Info settings identify your mail server so the Vocera Voice Server can communicate with it successfully.

Table 1. Mail host information settings

Field

Maximum Length

Description

Mail Host

60

In the Mail Host field, enter the name of the POP or IMAP server that receives and stores your email. Example: mail.yourcompany.com.

The host that you specify in this field is used for incoming mail. By default, the Vocera Voice Server also uses it for outgoing mail unless you specify otherwise in the SMTP Host field. See Outgoing Mail Settings.

Note: If you select EWS as your mail server type, an Exchange Web Service URL must be configured and added it to the Mail Host field.

For example, https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx.

Be aware that the EWS URL values for your organization may differ from the provided example.

Mail Host Domain Name

60

In the Mail Host Domain Name field, specify the domain name used in email addresses at your site. Entering a value for this field ensures that anyone can reply to email sent from the badge.

Example: yourcompany.com.

Mail Server Type

n/a

Choose the Mail Server Type that matches the protocol supported by your email server. These include:
  • POP3 (Post Office Protocol 3)
  • IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol)
  • EWS (Microsoft Exchange Web Service)
If you select EWS as your mail server type, please be aware of the following:
  • For Staff Assignment customers: In the Vocera Server Admin Console, go to Email -> Mailbox and select the checkbox next to Enable SMTP Authentication. If this field is left blank and not selected, credentials are not provided to Staff Assignment which will not work as expected.

  • For Vocera Report Server customers: When EWS is selected for Vocera Voice Server, then you cannot load the mail server settings from the Vocera Voice Server to the Vocera Report Server.

Go to Administration -> Mail Info and uncheckbox next to Download Mail Setup from Vocera Server .

In this instance, your email should either be disabled or you must provide separate SMTP information.

To configure email host settings:

  1. Click Email in the navigation bar.
  2. Click the Host Info tab.
  3. Enter information identifying your mail server.
