VRS 4.4.0 Fixes

Prerequisites

Before installing this release, make sure one of the following Vocera products is installed:

Note: Upgrade your Vocera Voice Server to version 4.4.2 before installing Vocera Report Server 4.4.2.

Installing the Version 4.4.2 Update

After you install one of the prerequisites, you can install this service pack by following the instructions listed below.

To install this service pack, you must log in to the computer using an account with administrator privileges.

Schedule Downtime

It takes approximately 20 minutes to install this service pack. However, after installation the server will be down while you restore data from a backup file. The time it takes to restore data varies based on the size of the data set. The following table provides estimated database restore times for different size backup files.

Backup File Size (MB) Estimated Restore Time
50 45 minutes
100 1 hour 15 minutes
200 2 hours
400 4 hours

Back Up Your Data

Make sure you have a recent backup of Report Server data. If you schedule daily backups, you can use the backup from the previous evening. You will need to restore data from this backup file after you install the update.

If you do not have a recent backup of Report Server data, create one now.

To back up your Report Server data:

  1. Log in to the Vocera Report Console.
  2. Click Task Scheduler in the navigation bar.
  3. Select the Backup task, and then click the Run Task button.

A message box opens to confirm you want to run the task.

  4. Click OK.

The Run Task dialog box appears.

  5. Specify the maximum number of backup files to maintain (the default is 10), and then click Run Task.

    The Status dialog box appears.

  6. When the process is complete, click OK to close the dialog box.
Note: The time it takes to back up and restore Report Server data depends on the size of the data set. Large data sets (for example, 2 years or more of report data) can take several hours to back up and restore. Before you install this update, it might be a good time to perform some basic maintenance of the Report Server. If your Report Server contains data you no longer need for reports, consider archiving the older data up to a certain date. After the archive is saved, you can purge the old data, and then perform a backup. For more information on how to archive and purge data, see the Vocera Report Server Guide.
