Vocera Edge Communications, a cloud-based solution for smartphones, enhances care team mobility and simplifies the work at the point of care through effective, reliable, clinical workflows and communication. With Vocera Edge, clinicians can document to the EHR while receiving filtered, prioritized alarm and task notifications. Physicians can easily locate and communicate with the nurse and team members supporting their patients, saving time with each connection.

This Vocera Edge Communications for Android release is compatible with Vocera Edge System 4.11.x, 4.12.x, and 4.14.x.

The following devices have been certified to be compatible with Vocera Edge Communications 4.14:

• Google Pixel 5, 6, 7, 8
• Samsung Galaxy Note 20
• Samsung Galaxy S10/S10+, S20, S21, S22

All these devices can be used for BYOD. However, Vocera recommends devices newer than the Samsung Galaxy S8. Devices made after this model tend to have improved wireless connectivity, such as 802.11 a/b/g/n + ax 2x2 MIMO. These newer devices are also more water and dust resistant with IP Ratings of IP67/IP67 or better.

Certain older or lower hardware capability phones may have connectivity issues in hospital environments. If a caregiver experiences these types of issues, have them try a newer or more hardware capable device.

The following list displays new features in this version of Vocera Edge Communications - Android.

• Presence Sync with Vocera Voice Server 5.10.2

  • Description: To support Vocera Edge integration with Vocera Voice (added in Edge 4.14.0) and Vocera Engage (added in Edge 4.12.0), when a user sets their Presence in Vocera Voice, the Edge Mobile Apps, Edge Web Messaging, or via Engage Rules, Presence is updated throughout the system and viewable in Vocera Voice, the mobile apps, web app, Staff Assignment, and the Engage Web Console.

• Integration with Vocera Voice 5.10.2: Vocera Badge Calling

  • Description: Vocera Edge can be integrated with Vocera Voice Server 5.10.2 to allow communicate between Vocera Edge Mobile and Badge users using the P1 signaling framework. With this integration, users can call other users or groups directly without entering an extension. Login information is now synced between Vocera Edge and Vocera Voice Server so a user can log in to both the Edge Mobile app and a Vocera badge (but not at the same time).
  • Configuration and Maintenance:
    • To enable Vocera Calling, go to Enterprise Manager > Settings > Security > Advanced Settings, and select Vocera Calling Enabled.
    • To enable Voice Group Calling, go to Enterprise Manager > Settings > Security > Advanced Settings, and select Voice Group Calling Enabled.

• Voicemail Support

  • Description: The Edge Mobile for Android app now displays voicemails in the call history and allows inline voicemail replay.

  • Configuration and Maintenance: To play voicemails, tap Voicemail from the Phone tab.

• Updates to Profile screen

  • Description: The Profile screen has been updated with the following user interface changes:

    • The contact options are now directly under the user's profile picture, details, and presence status.
    • The Preferences, Settings, and Logout buttons have moved to the bottom of the screen.
    • If Call Forwarding is enabled for Vocera Voice integration, then Call Forwarding options are available above the contact options.

• EDGEM-5255 After a user uninstalls the app, then installs it again, the phone may save the server and login details so the user is directed to the app's PIN screen with the user already logged in instead of the Domain Address screen.
