• Hidden Nursing Units
  • Description: Nursing units can be configured to be "hidden" from view, yet still remain accessible in the Vocera Edge System. Examples of units that may want to be hidden include outpatient nursing units or temporary units that Vocera Edge caregivers do not need visibility into.

• Vocera Edge Supports 10-Digit Voice Extensions
  • Description: Vocera Edge supports 10-digit voice extensions for CUCM and Freeswitch.

  • Description: The Enterprise Manager provides the ability to download contacts so they can be re-uploaded later using the Bulk Upload tool.

• Sign to Document Option
  • Description: New Clinical Manager setting: "Require Badge Scan to Document" provides facilities with the option of requiring caregivers to scan their badge or select a "Sign" button to document. By default, the “Require Badge Scan to Document” setting will be enabled in Clinical Manager. When the setting is disabled, users will have the option to select "Sign" on the handheld to document. They still can scan their badge to document, if desired.

• Integration Monitoring Tool (IMT)
  • Description: The integration monitoring tool tracks and records all integration failure messages. It provides greater visibility to patterns in integration failures, thereby assisting in the troubleshooting efforts for individual documentation failure. The IMT also allows customers to be more proactive in addressing systemic failures (network outages, integration downtimes, etc.) in a timelier manner.
  • Configuration and Maintenance: Users must have the Access Integration Monitor privilege to be able to see the Integration Monitoring Tool. To view the tool, go to: Enterprise Manager>Settings>Integration Monitor.

• Documentation Failure Notification Message
  • Description: When a caregiver has attempted to document using Vocera Edge but it has failed to pass into the EHR, they will receive the Documentation Failure Notification message in the Inbox of their handheld or Web Messenger. After receiving the notification message, users will then be able to re-document the failed item back into the EHR.

• Facility Indicator
  • Description: The facility indicator represents the facility where a shared device user is currently logged in. It allows the caller to quickly identify the extension where the callee is currently located and can be contacted. The callee must be connected to the voice server for that facility to receive the call.

• QGenda Integrated Task Notes Display as Service Notes in Vocera Edge
  • Description: QGenda integrated tasks notes display in the Enterprise Manager, and all clients as service notes.

  • Description: Previously, Accept and Escalate were the action buttons that displayed on the bottom of an alert, next to Options. The alert has been updated so that Call, Accept, and Escalate now display as the action buttons on the bottom of an alert.

• mView Displays Most Recently Documented Data for the Patient's Active Visit
  • Description: mView now displays the most recently documented data for the patient's active visit, regardless of the current admit date/time, even if the admit date/time displays in the future.

• Number of Max PIN Attempts Setting in Enterprise Manager
  • Description: There is a new setting in Enterprise Manager, called Max PIN Attempts. When enabled, the Enterprise Manager will track invalid PIN attempts across all clients. If the number of PIN attempts exceeds the Max Pin Attempts configuration, the user will get automatically logged out of the application.

• Alternate Patient ID and ID Type Created for Use in App Linking SSO
  • Description: Vocera Edge can store alternate Patient IDs to uniquely identify patients with other systems that require alternate identifiers, such as Epic. Alternate Patient identifiers will be utilized for patient-to-patient app linking from Vocera Edge to Epic.

• SMS Patient Contacts
  • Description: SMS Patient Contacts allows caregivers utilizing Vocera Edge to send SMS text messages to patient contacts, such as family members or friends. These messages are received to native messaging applications tied to the phone number entered within Vocera Edge.
  • Configuration and Maintenance: Messages are configured in Enterprise Manager, Settings, SMS Patient Contact. Permissions configured in the Enterprise Manager.

• Organization Structure Permission Removed for Sending Broadcast Messages
  • Description: Removed the need for the "Organization Structure" permission when sending broadcast messages. All users will be able to view and message all org units if they have the "Broadcast Messaging" permission.

• Targeted Broadcast Message Assignment Change
  • Description: New option added to “Assignments” drop downs called, “Currently and Recently Assigned (Last 30 Days).” This option will send the message to those caregivers who have made an assignment within the last 30 days PLUS all current assignments.”

• Updated Device List Shows User Presence and Status Columns
  • Description: The Device List has been updated and columns have changed: The old "Status" column has been updated to "User Presence" which shows whether the user is "Online/Offline". In addition, a new column displays with the title "User Status" that shows the text status if a user has one entered. If the user doesn't have one entered, the column shows whether the user is "Available" or "Busy".

  • Description: EULA allows customers to prompt the user on initial login to agree to an expected use of the Vocera Edge applications prior to the user being able to use the application. The EULA is configured in the Enterprise Manager and is written according to hospital policy.

Med Admin Release Notes

• Search Master Drug File by Barcode or Alternate CPOE Med ID
  • Description: With the increased usage of CPOE as well as the ability for multiple formulary items to share the same alternate CPOE Med ID, users may now search by barcode or alternate CPOE Med ID in the advanced search option of the Master Drug File list.

• Document Against Active Order Even if Medication is Inactive
  • Description: If a medication is set to Inactive in the formulary, caregivers will still be able to document against an active order profiled with that medication.

• All Medications May be Configured for Administration without Scanning
  • Description: When configured, caregivers will have the option to document medication doses without scanning the medication first. The caregiver will still be required to scan the patient wristband.

• Ability to Configure Vaccine Setting at Formulary Item Level

• Formulary Integration Failures Appear in Integration Monitoring Tool for Resolution
  • Description: When Formulary Integration is implemented, some issues such as incorrect NDC formatting, duplicate barcode values across product, and generalized formulary content issues can cause new formulary items to fail crossing successfully into Vocera Edge. Formulary Integration has been partnered with the Integration Monitoring Tool to provide users with the appropriate permissions visibility to these failures so they can resolve them. If desired, users can receive real time notifications and inbox messages alerting them about these failures.

• Increased Character Limits for Formulary Items
  • Description: The following fields in the formulary have increased character limits: Strength Unit, Volume Unit, Dispense Size Unit, Dosage Form, and Brand Name (where barcodes and NDC's are added.

• Fixed issue where the "Hidden" check box in the Contacts tab under Caregiver disappeared intermittently.

• Some Macbook Pro users who belong to multiple facilities cannot locate the Unassign button when trying to unassign an extension. The list was too long resulting in too many rows in the table for some users.

• For users in centralized management: Fixed issue in Formulary Approval Tool so user is notified when duplicate formulary barcode has a 'Fix-Me' message. Users can then fix the barcode and subsequently approve the formulary item.

Specimen Collection

• Fixed issue where the Lab Workflow Report should have been marked as “Collected by LIS" but instead indicated "No Collection Record" after sending specimen received message.

Web Messenger

• Fixed issue on Web Messenger Notifications not behaving correctly when user sent a message and receiver had their browser minimized.
• Fixed issue where Web Messenger was not able to receive messages sent from the Notification API that contained text with new line characters.
• Fixed issue where Web Messenger was not supporting "Resolved" action for Integration Monitoring Tool notifications.
