The Vocera Incoming WCTP Adapter implements the Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol (WCTP) protocol as a server (specifications use the term Carrier Gateway) with the intent of receiving inbound messages and providing responses to the senders.

This adapter supports versions 1.0 through 1.3 of the Wireless Communication Transfer Protocol (WCTP). This adapter version implements support for Enterprise Host clients and Transient clients, and it does not support multi-recipient messages.

Support is provided for inbound WCTP from operator consoles, pager consoles, emergency communications, call center systems, or any other centralized source of messages or notifications.

WCTP provides a simple means of passing alphanumeric and binary messages between wireline systems and two-way capable wireless devices. The wireless device need not be capable of responding; a one-way numeric pager would be equally as accessible as any device capable of bi-directional messaging. WCTP is directly applicable for messaging to and from most other wireless technologies, including PCS, GSM, and cellular.

Vocera is pleased to announce that users can configure Incoming WCTP to send the responding user or affected user, without the Transport Address for Message Replies, Status Updates, and Errors.
- The adapter allows the configuration of whether or not to include the transport address in the "sender ID" or "affected User" fields of a Message Reply, Status Update, or Delivery Error. This is enabled by default and on upgrade.
- When the adapter is configured to include the transport address, the address will be affixed to the end of the configured sender or affected user.
- When disabled, the adapter will not affix the transport address to the sender or affected user.
