SIP is the acronym for Session Initiation Protocol; a communications protocol for signalling and controlling multimedia communication sessions. The Engage SIP Adapter is used to receive messages and data from various Nurse Call systems, such as Rauland Responder 5. This data is then used to communicate necessary information, such as the patient's room or bed number in a facility, as well as sending an alert type for that message.

By combining the information received through the Engage SIP Adapter with information received through a device adapter, such as CUCM or Smartphone adapter, then an assigned device can receive a message when a patient alert is triggered.

What's Fixed in the Engage SIP Adapter 1.1 SR1 Release

The following issues are fixed in Engage SIP Adapter 1.1 SR1 (1.1.4):

A memory leak no longer occurs when a cancelled call is identified as active. (ADP-5165)
Now when CANCEL is received, the Request Terminated response is sent so JSIP will close out the INVITE transaction/dialog and free its memory.

Known Issues

This section provides information about known product defects and limitations in the current release.

When Rauland sends a Code Blue / Staff Assist call to Engage and the Accept Immediately configuration is enabled, the Alert will be repeated continuously until the Cancel button is pressed in the room. Each repeat of the Alert causes a new Alert Message in the conversation list of XMPP phones. (ADP-4593)

This issue only occurs when the system is configured for Rauland to manage escalations, and the Engage SIP adapter is configured to "Immediately Accept" the Code Blue/Staff Assist alerts.
