Configurable in-app help

You can now access Vocera Vina training videos from your app. You can specify a page containing links to videos that have been created for your facility. By default, the app displays the Vocera Minute: Vocera Vina | See How it Works page.
Improved detection of linkable phone numbers in messages

The pattern matching to detect phone numbers in message text has been improved. When a phone number is found, a link to that number is automatically provided in the text. This makes it easier to return emergency calls.
Simplified navigation includes unread message count

The navigation button at the top left corner of conversation, patient information, settings, and archive screens now returns you to the Home screen. If you have conversations with unread messages, a count of these conversations is also displayed.
Coverage improvements

The coverage feature, which enables one user to cover for another user who is unavailable, has been improved in this release:
- Your presence indicator now indicates whether you are providing coverage for another user.
- If you are being covered by another user and a message is sent to a group conversation of which you are a member, the conversation is now displayed in the Covered section on the Home screen. This makes it easier to determine what messages were sent while you were unavailable.
- When you are being covered by another user, the Presence screen now displays who is covering for you and for how long. Similarly, when you are providing coverage for one or more users, the Presence screen displays the users and time periods for which you are providing coverage.
* Vina can now be paired with a Minibadge

You can now specify that a Minibadge is to be paired with your Vina app using Bluetooth. When the app and device are paired, login information is sent from Vina to the Minibadge and the user is logged in on both devices. Some basic Minibadge settings can be seen and modified from Vina.
* Customized tones for calls and messages

You can now select a custom tone for your calls and for your messages if your group has been granted this permission on the Vocera Platform. This enables you to more easily recognize that a Vina user has attempted to contact you. You can select from the list of tones provided on the server.
Urgent alarm tones can now play continuously

The system can now be configured to enable alarm tones for Urgent priority messages to play continuously until you respond. This ensures that urgent situations are always noticed and responded to. This capability is configured on the XMPP adapter that enables the Vina app to communicate with the server.
Favorites now easier to create and remove

You can now create a favorite either from the Menu screen or by tapping a profile picture or initials of a user, group, or department that appears in search results when you start a new conversation or call. Contact phone numbers can now be created as favorites.
Tone for new alarm played if higher or same priority

If you are hearing a tone for an alarm and a new alarm arrives with the same or higher priority, the Vina app plays the tone for the new alarm.

Coverage status shows in presence indicator

If you are being covered, your presence indicator is now set to Unavailable.
Presence unavailable indicator updated to support color-blind

The presence indicator for Unavailable users is now a white dashed line inside a red circle. This makes it easier for users with color-blindness issues to determine whether a user is unavailable.

Device Requirements

You must be using a supported device and operating system to be able to run Vocera Vina.

The following devices are supported:

Apple iPhone small size device (iPhone 6 and later)
Apple iPhone without Notch (medium size device)
Apple iPhone with Notch (large size device)

Versions 14.0 and later of the Apple iOS operating system are supported.

Vocera Vina should be designed and coded to function on the majority of BYOD devices that use iOS 14 and later. However, these devices cannot be tested, and thus voice performance cannot be guaranteed, features function cannot be guaranteed, and use for regulated alarms on devices not on the supported list is not supported.

UC-20660 When Vina 10.3 for iOS is being used with Vocera Platform 6.3.4, tones for notifications are now played properly when the app is in the background.

The following list contains fixes and improvements made to Vocera Vina.

UC-20012 If your device is using iOS 15.x and is set to allow calls from anyone, and you receive a call in your Vina app while it is in the background, your app no longer crashes when it is returned to the background after the caller disconnects.

Known Issues

This release includes the following known issues and limitations for versions of Vocera Vina running on Apple iOS operating systems.

UC-7287 If the user moves their system clock backward, messages are not marked as read. When the displayed time catches back up to where the time was set, the app will start working again.
UC-8315 If someone is attempting to call you from a broadcast, the caller name on the incoming call screen is incorrectly displayed as offline.
UC-13599 If you receive a call after you have terminated the Vina app, the context of the call is not displayed until after you answer the call.
UC-14064 Using Vina over a VPN may affect:
- The ability to receive calls and alarms.
- The quality and stability of calls.
UC-16427 If your device is using iOS 14 or later and you receive a call when your Vina app is in the background, the context of the call is not displayed.
UC-16802 If you disconnect your headset while in a call, you may lose audio.
UC-16840 If your device is using a iOS 13.x or 14.x (up to 14.4.x) operating system and you restart your device, you may not receive the first incoming Vina call if you do not open the app. This problem does not appear in iOS versions 14.5 and later.
UC-17081 Under some circumstances, when you attempt to log into Vina using single sign-on, the Microsoft login screen does not appear. If this occurs, use the following workaround: on your device, open the Settings app and tap Safari, Advanced, Website Data, and Remove All Website Data.
UC-18556 When your device is using some iOS operating systems, you are on a call, and you receive an alarm, the chirp tone that notifies you of the incoming alarm is not played. This issue has been found on devices using the iOS 13.4 operating system.
UC-20015 Urgent broadcasts may not work properly if your device's Do Not Disturb setting is activated.
UC-20724 Audio for broadcasts, urgent broadcasts, and panic broadcasts is not heard if a device in the broadcast is running iOS version 16.
