Vocera Vina is a smartphone app that optimizes patient safety by helping clinicians to make decisions in real-time.

Alarms can now specify a callback number

The specified Alarm callback number now replaces the default room callback number in the associated Vina alarm information. This is useful if there are multiple phone numbers associated with the room, such as a bathroom phone and a pillow speaker phone.

Messaging can be disabled

Your system can now be configured to disable Vina messaging for selected groups of users. You can also specify that third-party messaging is to be used. This is useful if your facility already has a secure texting method in use but wants to use Vina's alarm management, care team, and calling capabilities.
Disabling the mute override option now supported

Your system can now be configured to allow selected groups of users to completely mute all notification tones from Vina. This is useful for physicians who are performing sensitive patient care and do not want to be interrupted.
Vina can now be used with badges in Dual Mode

You can now log into Vina while you are logged into the Vocera Smartbadge or the Vocera Badge. This Dual Mode capability enables you to send and receive hands-free calls and alarms on your badge while using Vina for text messaging. Calls and alerts are displayed in Vina for future access.
New classic ringtone for hard of hearing

A new ringtone that is easier to hear is now available. The XMPP adapter can be configured to use this classic ringtone for alerts, incoming calls, or any other notification.
Coverage request can now be sent to a group

When you are requesting coverage, you can now specify that a group is to cover for you. To do this, select the group and then tap a member of the group. If this group member goes offline for more than 30 seconds, another group member takes over the coverage.
Philips Care Assist integration now available

If the Philips Care Assist app is installed on devices at your facility, it can now be integrated with Vina. Data from this app can now be displayed for any patient that is assigned to a user or is the context of a group chat if the Vocera Platform server is configured to support this.

Upgrade warning may appear

If your facility has not yet upgraded to a Vocera Platform version that supports the Apple Notification Service Extension (Vocera Platform 6.4+), a warning may appear once per day indicating the app should not be updated until the server has been upgraded. After April 1, you will not be able to use versions of Vina that are later than 10.2 before you upgrade Vocera Platform.

Device Requirements

You must be using a supported device and operating system to be able to run Vocera Vina.

The following devices are supported:

Apple iPhone small size device (iPhone 6 and later)
Apple iPhone without Notch (medium size device)
Apple iPhone with Notch (large size device)

Versions 14.0 and later of the Apple iOS operating system are supported.

Vocera Vina should be designed and coded to function on the majority of BYOD devices that use iOS 14 and later. However, these devices cannot be tested, and thus voice performance cannot be guaranteed, features function cannot be guaranteed, and use for regulated alarms on devices not on the supported list is not supported.

UC-17923 When you decline an incoming call, the name of the user who called you is now always displayed properly in the Home screen.
UC-19006 The Vocera Genie screen is now no longer being displayed after a voicemail is played.
UC-19360 There is no longer a one-second delay when answering a call when the Vina app is in the foreground.
UC-19445 If you are using Imprivata to log into Vina, your login is now preserved when you terminate and relaunch the app.

Known Issues

This release includes the following known issues and limitations for versions of Vocera Vina running on Apple iOS operating systems.

UC-7287 If the user moves their system clock backward, messages are not marked as read. When the displayed time catches back up to where the time was set, the app will start working again.
UC-8315 If someone is attempting to call you from a broadcast, the caller name on the incoming call screen is incorrectly displayed as offline.
UC-13599 If you receive a call after you have terminated the Vina app, the context of the call is not displayed until after you answer the call.
UC-14064 Using Vina over a VPN may affect:
- The ability to receive calls and alarms.
- The quality and stability of calls.
UC-16802 If you disconnect your headset while in a call, you may lose audio.
UC-16840 If your device is using a iOS 13.x or 14.x (up to 14.4.x) operating system and you restart your device, you may not receive the first incoming Vina call if you do not open the app. This problem does not appear in iOS versions 14.5 and later.
UC-20012 If your device is using iOS 15.x and is set to allow calls from anyone, and you receive a call in your Vina app while it is in the background, your app may crash when it is returned to the background after the caller disconnects.
UC-20015 Urgent broadcasts may not work properly if your device's Do Not Disturb setting is activated.
