SQL database now named VOCERAVMP

For new installations of VMP starting with this release, the SQL database that VMP uses is called VOCERAVMP. Existing installations of VMP will continue to use the WICMASTER SQL database.
Tomcat support option now removed

The Enable Enhanced Voice Server NIO Tomcat Feature option has been removed from the Vocera Messaging Platform Administration Guide configuration options.
Microsoft Edge support

The Microsoft Edge (Chromium) browser is now supported, but the legacy Microsoft Edge browser is no longer supported.

FCM performance improvements

The VMP Server now provides multiple FCM connectors to enable better performance for Android device clients that do not have fast connectivity to Google services.

VMP now maintains persistent connections to FCM services to increase overall throughput during periods of heavy activity.

Forwarded alerts can now be sent to the forwarder

A new VMP Administrator configuration option enables you to specify that when a user has enabled alert message forwarding, this user receives a copy of any forwarded alert message.
Leaving a conversation

When you are logged into the VMP Web Console, you can now leave a message conversation in which you do not want to participate. The conversation is hidden when you leave it.
Smartphone and smartbadge dual login

Any user can now be simultaneously logged into Vocera Collaboration Suite on a smartphone and logged into the Vocera Smartbadge. To view the device ID and client version for each login, edit the user's information in the VMP Administrator.
Microsoft mail service support updated

VMP now uses Microsoft Graph to communicate with the Microsoft Outlook 365 and Microsoft Exchange email services.
Forwarding to a group now enabled

The VMP Server now allows messages to be forwarded to either a group or an individual user.
Notification banner can be set for all users

The Notification Banner Message configuration option in the VMP Administrator allows you to specify a notification banner that appears on the Secure Messages screen when any VMP Web Console or Vocera Collaboration Suite user logs in.

Fixed Issues

CMSG-13685 The message archiving functionality now works correctly for new installs of VMP 5.6. Customers upgrading from previous versions to 5.6 are not affected.

CMSG-12306 When you are logged into the VMP Web Console and you create a notification message to send to an Escalation Distribution List, the Attach Media button is now disabled.
CMSG-12331 When viewing a message in Monitor View in the VMP Web Console, the list of message recipients is no longer truncated.
CMSG-12825 The number of days of inactivity to archive a conversation is now required to be between 5 and 10000.

Known Issues

This section lists known issues and limitations in version 5.6.0 of Vocera Messaging Platform.

CMSG-11713 In the VMP on-call schedule module, it is possible to use the modify shift function to accidentally overlap two shifts containing the same on-call assignee. In rare cases, this can cause both shifts to be removed from the schedule.
CMSG-13256 Messages to VMP users that originate from the Vocera Voice Server User Console may result in a "No such message" notification email to VMP administrators. These messages are stateless and the warning can be ignored.
CMSG-13801 If you are logging into the Vocera V5000 Smartbadge and Vocera Collaboration Suite at the same time, you occasionally may not be able to set Do Not Disturb on the Smartbadge. This is due to a timing issue with how the logins are processed on the VMP Server.
CMSG-14026 Conversations that have been archived are not purged from the database after the time period defined by the "Retain message history in database" setting.
CMSG-14535 If the VMP Server loses its SQL connection, it may send wakeup notifications to iOS devices in SE mode. Users may hear their device ring for a second before stopping.
