This release includes the following new features and functionality.
Alert and Chat are now combined into the Messaging module. This version of
You are now notified if a message may be enunciated. If you are creating a message
in the
Synchronization now optimized. The synchronization of large numbers of users is now processed more efficiently, as is the synchronization of large numbers of Active Directory groups and OUs.
Groups are now created for
Title field added to User setting. The Title field is now included in the list of settings for Users. It can be imported from Active Directory during synchronization.
Message conversations can now be hidden. In the
Notification option for messages now simplified. The

Interoperability with badges now enhanced. The
Improvements to Templates permissions. The default administrator now automatically receives access permissions for all Messaging Templates. If a user is deleted, the default administrator becomes the owner of the user's templates. Individual users can now be granted administrator permissions, not just groups.
Improvement to scheduling permissions. The default administrator is granted access to all schedules, regardless of permissions and ownership. At least one user must be able to manage the schedule, or it is not accepted. Individual users can be granted the right to create schedules and edit their own schedules, or the right to edit all schedules.
Reporting capability streamlined and improved. New reports are now available to track message and notification use. Existing Chat and Alert reports remain available as legacy reports.
Messages unsuccessfully sent to a pager not marked as failed. If the

On-Call capabilities improved in Distribution Lists imported from Active Directory. When a Distribution List has been imported from Active Directory and has had On-Call enabled, you can now grant permission to members of this group to set their On-Call status.

Use the following steps to upgrade to VMP Server 5.1.0.
Stop the Vocera Data Exchange service on the VMP Server:
Open the Windows Services application:
Windows > Start > Administrative Tools > Services
Click to select Vocera Data Exchange Service.
Right click and select Stop.
Execute the updated VMP setup file on the VMP installation server.
Accept the License Agreement, and click Next.
In the Software Type dialog, select VMP Server and Administrator, and click Next.
Accept the existing Install Location and click Install.
At the Create VMP Database Wizard prompt, enter the following information and click Next.
Enter the SQL Server name.
Select the SQL Server Authentication radio button.
Enter the SA Login and Password.
Click OK to confirm that the existing database will be upgraded, and click Next.
Skip the step that asks you whether you want to install the OTA.xml file.
The installer creates the VMP databases on the SQL server. When the script is complete, click OK.
If the VMP Enterprise Manager opens after the database script is complete, close the application to complete the installation process. Click Finish to close the installer.
Restart the server.
The VMP Server is now updated. Confirm a good installation by opening a supported Web browser and pointing to the server URL. If VMP is installed correctly, the VMP Web Console opens.
This release includes the following known issues and limitations:
Cannot view branches of an Escalation Distribution List in
Custom Reply option appears when message sent to WCTP pager. When a message is sent from the
Audio and video content cannot be streamed to client devices through
PDF files not supported in
Notify Me icon reappears in
Public ID field limited to 32 characters. The Public ID field, which can be used to identify the recipient in supported APIs, is limited to 32 characters of text. (DE8225)
US30218 - Badges unable to respond to long message responses.
If you send a message to a badge with multiple choice responses, and the responses are longer than 15 characters, the selected response is not sent properly to the sender of the message.
