Device Support for Vocera Collaboration Suite 3.0.1

Vocera Collaboration Suite version 3.0.1 provides support for any of the following devices running iOS 8.1 and later:

Some of the features of Vocera Collaboration Suite version 3.0.x are provided on the Apple Watch.

Server Compatibility

Vocera Collaboration Suite 3.0.1 clients require VMP Server 5.1.0 for full functionality. When a Vocera Collaboration Suite 3.0.1 client is connected to VMP Server version 4.9.2 to version 4.9.4, the client uses version 2.0.2 backward compatibility mode to interact with the server.

Important: If your environment is using VMP Server 4.9.4 or earlier, the Apple Watch will always indicate that the number of new messages is zero, as the watch does not support the Alert and Chat capabilities provided on older versions of the server.

Vocera Voice Server 4.4.1 or later is required. If your organization is using Vocera Voice Server departments and synchronizing them with VMP groups, Vocera Voice Server 5.1 or later must be installed.

VMP Server 5.1 does not support message templates in which one or more recipients are Escalation Distribution Lists and other recipients are regular users. Only one Escalation Distribution List can be listed as a recipient, and it must be the only recipient.

What's Fixed

This release includes the following fixes:

Known Issues

This release includes the following known issues and limitations for versions of the Vocera Collaboration Suite running on Apple iOS operating systems.

  1. Audio is skipped after Call completed. When you have terminated a Call, the audio on your device may briefly skip every 20 to 30 seconds for a maximum of 5 minutes. Restarting the VCS app eliminates this problem. (DE6039)

  2. Unread message counter not updated if message sent while in conversation. If you receive a message while in a conversation, and then return to the Secure Messages screen, the Call Log icon at the bottom of the screen incorrectly includes this conversation in its count of conversations containing unread messages. (DE8272)

  3. High priority message notification not interrupted by call (iOS 9.1 only). On devices running iOS version 9.1, if a high priority message notification is being played and an incoming call is received, the notification for the call should interrupt the notification for the message, but does not. This behavior results from how iOS version 9.1 handles multiple system notifications. (DE8693)

  4. High priority message notification continues playing after call is answered (iOS 9.0 and later). On devices running iOS version 9.0 or later, if a High priority message is sent to a device followed by an urgent call, the notification tone for the message should stop playing when the call is answered, but does not. This is due to a problem with the Apple API for local notifications. (DE8695)

  5. Urgent notification displayed twice if new call or notification received (iOS 9.0 and later). On devices running iOS version 9.0 or later, if a new call or notification appears while an existing urgent notification is being processed, the urgent notification is displayed twice. (DE8702)

  6. VMP user entries are not loaded correctly if Title or Public ID contains an apostrophe. If you are running Vocera Collaboration Suite on the iOS operating system, and your application is attempting to import a VMP user into the Contacts screen when its Title or Public ID field contains an apostrophe, the record is not loaded properly, and significant delays may occur during registration and contact searches. (DE9073)

  7. Vocera Collaboration Suite does not automatically start on device restart if device password required. On all versions of the iOS operating system, if you have supplied a password for your device and you restart the device, you must enter the password before the Vocera Collaboration Suite will automatically start. This is a restriction in the iOS operating system: no interfaces, including Wi-Fi, are connected until the password is supplied.
