Staff Assignment

Use the Staff Assignment component of the Web Console to assign care team members (nurses) to beds. It allows you to view departments and search for staff members within a department, send messages to care team or individual staff members, remove a staff assignment, and add notes related to a patient.

Viewing Departments

Staff Assignment users assigned to a multiple-bed location can view the assignment information in the DEPARTMENTS section.

View your complete care team, including third-party assignments on single-bed locations.
Assigning Staff Member by Clicking
Assign a staff member by clicking the name of a staff member.
Assigning Staff Member by Replacing
Assign a staff member by replacing an assigned staff member.
Assigning Staff Member by Typing
Assign a staff member by typing the name of a staff member.
Assigning Staff Member using Copy and Paste
Assign a staff member using copy and paste.
Messaging Care Team
Send a message to the Care Team.
Enabling a Console Phone
If you are logged into Web Console and are also using a nearby console phone for communication, you can specify that calls are to be initiated using this phone.
Messaging an individual Staff Member
Send a message to an individual staff member.
Initiate Calls from Staff Assignment
While using Staff Assignment, you can initiate a call, broadcast call, or urgent broadcast call to a care team member on the Assignments tab.
Removing a Staff Assignment
Remove a care team member assigned to staff assignment using the keyboard delete option or the Remove Assignment option from the Staff Assignment user interface.
Adding Notes for a Patient
Add notes specific to a patient.
Coverage Request
Vocera users with patient care responsibilities, such as physicians and care team members, can use the coverage request feature to request another care team member to cover their service responsibilities for a specific time.
