Vocera Web Calling

The Vocera web calling feature allows you to initiate calls from the Vocera Platform Web Console, the Vina Web, or the Staff Assignment console.

The web calling feature is useful for users who are managing a desk office in a hospital set up and like to be able to make their Vina calls through the Vina Web or call a care team member from the Staff Assignment Web Console.

For example, a nurse sitting at a nurse station can log in to Vina Web or Staff Assignment Web Console to initiate a call. Typically, this nurse may have access to a Vina device and a desk phone to make a web call.

The web calling feature is disabled by default; a system administrator can enable this feature using the Console Calling Allowed security policy. In addition to the required security policy, users must configure their desk phones to work as a console phone or log in with their Vina devices to make calls from the Web Console.
Note: The Vocera Platform must be configured to have the Vocera SIP Telephony Gateway installed and configured to facilitate voice call connectivity to regular (desk) phone numbers.

When web calling is enabled for Vina Web users, they can initiate a web call, broadcast call, or an urgent broadcast call to other team members. For more information on these call scenarios and how to enable them in Vina Web, see About Calls.

When web calling is enabled for Staff Assignment users, they can initiate a web call, broadcast call, or an urgent broadcast call to other team members. For more information on these calls scenarios and how to enable them inStaff Assignment, see Calling from Staff Assignment
