Sending User's Location to Emergency Broadcast Group

Sending a panic caller's location information to the Emergency Broadcast Group allows the group members to quickly reach out to the panicking user and provide the required assistance.

When the Send Broadcasting User's Location to Emergency Broadcast Group option is enabled, the Emergency Broadcast Group members receive a panic call and alert notification with the caller's location information on supported Vocera devices and Vina app.

Important: The emergency broadcast group must be granted the "Perform Voice Administration" and "Initiate Broadcast" voice permissions to send the panic caller's location, see Voice Permissions Reference to learn more about voice permissions for groups.

Before you enable the Send Broadcasting User's Location to Emergency Broadcast Group option, you must ensure that Access Point (AP) Location information is added to the system, see Adding an Access Point Location the If you don't have an AP Location set, you must add a location name and

To send the user's location, follow these steps:

  1. Click Add New Facility or select Edit Facility from the Options button for the Facility settings that you want to modify.
    The New Facility/Edit Facility page appears.
  2. In the General section, click Find Group button to select a group as the Emergency Broadcast group.
    Note: Skip this step if there is an Emergency Broadcast Group already selected for this facility.
  3. Select the Send user's location to Emergency Broadcast Group checkbox.
  4. Choose one of the following to close the dialog:
    • Save — to update the facility configuration changes.
    • Cancel — to return to the Facilities page.
