Conversation Archive Rules

To help remove clutter from individual users' inboxes and maintain system performance, the Vocera software archives conversations based on a set of rules.

These rules are based on conversation quantity limits as well as age. The system evaluates these rules on a recurring basis. The archived conversations and their messages may be reinstated; they are not deleted.

Once a conversation that includes you has been archived, other users in the conversation see a message that indicates that you have left the conversation. This helps them know that you no longer see messages that are sent.

When you need to re-join a conversation that has been archived, you can unarchive it as described in Unarchiving a Conversation. Alternatively, other users in the conversation can you add back into the conversation. In either scenario, re-entering the formerly archived conversation may cause another conversation in your Home screen to be archived if you are at the maximum conversation limit.

When reinstating an archived conversation, you must re-add all required participants to it, and send them the message. This will cause the conversation to appear in the Home screen of all members.

Server rules

The server evaluates these rules on a recurring basis (every minute):

Client rules

Independently, the Vina client also requests the server to archive specific conversations for you on the following basis:

These two are independently evaluated. The maximum count can be configured by Vocera.
