Vocera Edge User Interface Overview
This topic provides a brief overview of the main functionality of Vocera Edge. Caregivers can access the Profile tab on the top of the screen or the following tabs on the bottom navigation bar: Inbox, To Do, Assignments, Contacts, and Phone. Tap each tab to access that functionality, which then becomes highlighted when in use.
Caregiver Context and Patient Context Vocera Edge has two main modes: Caregiver Context and Patient Context. Each mode provides access to patient care using a variety of methods, depending on the installed modules in your facility's Vocera Edge System and your specific role(s) and/or privileges.
Patient Safety Vocera Edge is designed to assist caregivers in focusing on the task at hand when dealing with patient safety. There are two main background colors to assist in this process: blue and green.
Logging In To Vocera Edge Clinical for iOS Vocera Edge allows you to log into the iOS application using one of the following methods: scanning your badge, manually entering your username and password, SAML Integration, or Single Sign On (SSO).
User Profile
Configure your mobile device to your preferences using the settings in the Profile tab.
Inbox and Messaging Vocera Edge keeps track of all your messages, alerts, and notifications using the Inbox.
Video Calling
Video calling introduces a new way of reaching caregivers and patients, creating a virtual care experience. Video can enable face-to-face calling with patients in isolation, connect caregivers across locations and provide real-time context of ongoing situations.
Contacts
The Contacts tab provides a variety of methods for which to contact other users within your facility. If you are in a hospital with multiple facilities, the Contacts tab also provides access to contact information for those caregivers.
Managing Assignments
The Assignments tab displays patients and/or nursing units assigned to you. With the "Assignments" permission, you can manage your assignments by assigning and unassigning patients and/or organization units to yourself.
Patient Information Vocera Edge allows caregivers to access patient information and care teams.
To Do List
The To Do List consists of tasks related to the patient(s) for whom you are assigned as the caregiver.
Phone
Hospital issued shared devices have VoIP capabilities and you can use them to place and receive calls, forward calls, and transfer calls.
Cellular Calling Vocera Edge allows caregivers to use their native cell phone carrier.
Badge Calling with Vocera Voice Server Vocera Edge can connect to Vocera Voice Server to allow calling between Vocera Edge users and Vocera badges using the P1 signaling framework. When calling between Vocera Edge and Vocera Voice, you call the user directly without entering an extension.
Broadcast Calls
If you are connected to a Vocera Voice server, you can initiate and receive a variety of broadcast calls, including broadcasts, urgent broadcasts, instant conferences, and panic calls, with Vocera badge users. Broadcast calls allow available group members to receive audio calls without the need to interact with a screen or device. A broadcast simultaneously contacts everyone in the group who is online and available, including badge users.
Care Role Forwarding for a BYOD Device
When users are currently assigned to a role configured with Care Role Forwarding (also known as Care Role Extensions), and they do not have their device number configured, Vocera Edge presents a popup to the user asking them to provide it.
Paging
Physicians may want to page another physician or a specialist for consultation on a specific patient.
Handling Connectivity Errors
You may see error messages that display at the top of your screen indicating a lost connection. These error messages are color coded for your convenience:
