The background update displays when there is an update in progress.
When a badge is performing a background update, the 
icon on the screen
indicates that the update is in progress. The badge restarts after the files are downloaded.
If the update process is paused because the badge is being used to make or
receive a call, the icon does not appear on screen until the call is finished
and the update process resumes.
