The Vocera Messaging Platform (VMP) provides an enterprise messaging solution
designed to address the unique communication challenges of healthcare. Users can leverage the
communication capabilities of VMP
from the Vocera Collaboration Suite,
Vocera Secure Texting, the
VMP Web Console, and the Vocera badge and
Smartbadge.
For detailed documentation on Vocera Messaging Platform,
refer to Vocera Messaging Platform.
For the previous versions of the release notes, refer to the
Vocera Release Notes Library.
Warning: If you are running a version of
Vocera Voice Server older than 5.3.2,
messages sent from the
VMP Server to badges
may not show all the correct features, including response options.
Workaround: Update Vocera Voice Server to version 5.3.2 or later.
Vocera strongly recommends using the same version of the Vocera Voice Server
and VMP.
This release includes the following new features and functionality.
Features marked with an asterisk * require Vocera Voice Server version 5.4.
-
Vocera Smartbadge users can now
reselect a multiple choice option when responding to an Alert.
A configuration option in the VMP Administrator
enables a Vocera Smartbadge user to
return to an Alert that has been responded to and reselect a different multiple choice
option.
This capability is provided for Vocera Smartbadge
users only. Vocera Collaboration Suite and
VMP Web Console users cannot
reselect multiple choice responses to Alerts.
-
Off Campus status can now be hidden.
A configuration option in the VMP Administrator
now specifies whether Off Campus is to be displayed as part of each user's availability status
in the VMP Web Console.
-
Banner now appears when conversation participant is unavailable.
In the VMP Web Console,
when you are viewing a conversation, a banner at the top of the conversation panel
now warns you if one or more of the participants in the conversation are unavailable.
-
Presence and availablility now displayed in list of conversation participants.
In the VMP Web Console,
when you are viewing a list of participants in a conversation, you now see
the presence and availability of each participant.
-
Expired VMI messages now hidden on
Vocera Collaboration Suite
and Vocera Smartbadge.
When Vocera Message Interface (VMI) messages expire, they are now hidden on
VCS
and Smartbadge clients.
The "VMI Message Expiry" configuration option specifies the amount of time in minutes before
VMI messages expire.
-
* Message delivery consolidated between Vocera Voice Server
and VMP Server.
Message delivery and management has now been consolidated to ensure a consistent user experience:
- Messages hidden or deleted on the Vocera Voice Server
are now hidden on the VMP Server
and vice versa.
- When you read a message on Vocera Collaboration Suite,
you do not have to read it again on the badge or the
Vocera Smartbadge, and vice versa.
-
Active Directory login option for
VMP Web Console supported on browsers other
than Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The "Enable Active Directory login" option in the VMP Enterprise Manager
now supports automatic login using Active Directory credentials on browsers other than Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The following list contains fixes and improvements made to version 5.4.0 of
Vocera Messaging Platform.
CMSG-10167 If you send a message using the SOAP API, and then delete it using the SOAP API, it
no longer appears on VMP Web Console
and VCS clients,
but is still visible on the badge. If a badge user selects a response to the message from the
choices available, the message no longer reappears on the sender's list of messages.
CMSG-10171 If you have a contact whose First Name field contains multiple words (such as "Patient Placement"),
a search using part of the multiple words (such as "Patient P") now successfully matches the contact.
CMSG-10888 If you change the Enforce Smartbadge PIN configuration option in the
VMP Server from Yes to
No, the Vocera Voice Server
and Smartbadge users are now notified of the change.
CMSG-10897 If a Vocera Collaboration Suite user sets Do Not Disturb for Calls while off-campus, and the
VMP
service is restarted, this setting is now retained.
CMSG-10923 When your VMP Server is
synchronized with a Vocera Voice Server, and a
new Vocera Voice Server user is assigned
a VMP license,
the new user can now log into the
Vocera Smartbadge
without having to wait approximately two to three minutes.
CMSG-11035 If your VMP server loses its connection to its SQL database, the Vocera Data Exchange service no longer
repeatedly writes errors to the VMP log. The connection error message now appears only once every two seconds.
CMSG-11074 The Device ID column in the VMP Admin Users grid now shows the Device ID V5000 Smartbadge devices that are currently logged in.
CMSG-11533 If a WCTP connection attempts to send a message to a Distribution List that has been synchronized with the
Vocera Voice Server, the
Distribution List has no recipients, and the HTTP service fails, the WCTP connection no longer remains open
and blocked.
CMSG-12037 VMP service crash due to unhandled APNS exception now fixed.
The unhandled exception was with Curl for APNS.
CMSG-12087 If you are logged into the VMP Web Console and the Vocera badge, and you send a message that requires a response and select Notify Me to
notify you if you do not receive a response, you no longer receive multiple notifications on the badge when you do not receive a response.
CMSG-12250 Throughput of APNS messages has been increased.
This section lists known issues and limitations in version 5.4.0 of
Vocera Messaging Platform.
CMSG-11638 If you are synchronizing VMP
with an Active Directory server for which a primary domain server and a subdomain server
have been defined, and this Active Directory server defines a security group that contains
a very large number of subdomain server users (such as 1000), the list of users displayed on the Select Users screen
does not include the users associated with the primary domain. Only the subdomain users
are displayed.
-
CMSG-11710 When you are logged into the
VMP Web Console
and you create a notification message to send to an Escalation Distribution List,
the Attach Media button should be disabled but is not.
CMSG-11711 Search does not match user with multiple-word first name if second word
of search string contains only one character. For example, if the user's first name is "Patient Placement", a search string of "Patient P" does not
match this user's first name. A search string of "Patient Pl" does match.
CMSG-12317 VMP Web Console users
who have been granted permission to view sent messages are sometimes unable to access these messages in the
Monitor View.
CMSG-12400 When you are using the Contacts view in the
VMP Web Console to display
the members of a manually created Distribution List that contains
VMP users linked with
Active Directory contacts, and you attempt to send a message to one of these users, no user or an incorrect user
appears in the To field in the created message.
CMSG-12825 If you set the "Number of days of inactivity to archive a conversation" configuration option in the
VMP Administrator to less than 4,
client devices may repeatedly attempt to request conversations that have already been archived. This may cause the server to halt.
CMSG-13256 Messages to VMP users
that originate from the Vocera Voice Server User Console
may result in a "No such message" notification email to VMP
administrators. These messages are stateless and the warning can be ignored.
CRVC-18343 On-campus VCS
users shown as off campus on VMP Web Console
after Vocera Voice Server restart.
Vocera calls can still be made to these users.
CRVC-19985 In deployments where the Vocera Voice Server
and VMP Server installations have mismatched versions,
VCS and
Smartbadge clients do not show new call log records.
Once the servers are on the same version, the problem will be resolved.
