Setting Startup Permissions

When you start the VCS app for the first time, you see popup dialog boxes that request permission to access the microphone and send notifications. Vocera recommends that you grant both of these permissions.

If your device is using iOS 13 or later, you also see a popup dialog box that asks you to specify the location permission.

To grant these permissions:

  1. Start the VCS app for the first time.
  2. If your device is running iOS version 13.3.1 or later, when the system dialog box appears that asks you whether you want to allow Vocera to use Bluetooth, tap OK.

If you do not have Bluetooth enabled on your device, a dialog box appears that notifies you of this:

Tap Settings to go to your Settings screen to enable Bluetooth.

  3. When the system dialog box appears that asks you whether you want Vocera to access the microphone, tap OK.

  4. If your device is using iOS 13 or later, when the system dialog box appears that asks you whether you want Vocera to access your location, tap Allow While Using App for now.

Important: When startup is complete, Vocera recommends that you change the location permission to Always. To do this, tap the Settings app, scroll down to Vocera and tap it, tap Location, and tap Always.
  5. When the system dialog box appears that asks you whether you want Vocera to send you notifications, tap Allow.
