Understanding a Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapter Configuration

Configure a Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapter to enable an external SOAP Web Service to communicate with Vocera Platform.

Adapters send information to and receive information from the Vocera Platform, as well as monitor and collect data. Each adapter is configured to allow the Vocera Platform to communicate with a specific type of resource and any devices that resource may control.

The Vocera Platform uses the Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapter to interact with an external SOAP Web Service. The Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapter retrieves information from the external system's WSDL and stores it in the Vocera Platform. Using this stored information, an administrator can configure rules in the Vocera Platform datasets that will send requests to and receive responses from the external SOAP Web Service, mapping the request and response elements to dataset entities.

The Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapter can send a request to the external Web Service, based upon a create or update event in a dataset. The adapter can also create or update existing dataset records based upon a response from the external Web Service. Multiple Vocera SOAP Subscriber Adapters can be implemented on the Vocera Platform.

See Vocera SOAP Publisher Adapter Configuration Guide for information about defining a custom SOAP Web Service.
